The Cummins T-50 3 Pin cable includes two sets of center pins that need to be changed to match the diagnostic connector on the engine.
It’s easy to miss the subtle differences between the two sets of center pins which often results in frustration when the cable won’t connect to the diagnostic port on the engine.
The second set of center pins should be in a clear plastic container in your kit or with the cable.
The green centers have a round receiver on the male cable end and a 6 sided prong on the female cable end.
The blue centers have a triangular receiver with a security prong on the male cable end and a triangular prong with a security recess on the female cable end.
A good set of needle nose pliers is required to pull the center pin out of the female cable end. The first time removing the center pin from the female end of the cable usually takes quite an effort, subsequent removal is much easier.
The center pin on the male cable end removes easily by inserting the needle nose pliers to pop it free.
Remember when using the T-50 cable to diagnose a Cummins Truck or Off-Highway engine to select this cable prior to diagnosis so TEXA communicates properly with the engine.
