Important Changes for TEXA Owners

Attention TEXA Owners - Important News & Policy Changes

There are three recent changes impacting your TEXA diagnostic tool:

  1. Software must be kept within 2 major revisions of the current version for full functionality
  2. Software updates have increased in price
  3. TEXA is contacting our customers directly to sell software updates

1. Software must be kept within 2 major revisions of the current version

When you purchased TEXA diagnostic software you were told that you wouldn't be required to update the software until you encountered a machine that your software wouldn't connect to. Unfortunately, TEXA has now informed us that all TEXA tools must remain within 2 major revisions of the current release to remain fully functional.

Software that is more than 2 versions behind the current release will lose considerable functionality. You will still be able to read and clear codes but will not be able to perform Settings with the Web Lock icon due to concerns that outdated TEXA software may corrupt the ECM.

At the time of publishing (November 1, 2024) current software versions are:

  • 36.2.5 - Bike
  • 76.6.3 - Car
  • 18.2.3 - Marine
  • 24.3.0 - Off-Highway
  • 53.3.1 - Truck

The versions listed below are the oldest that will be able to access settings restricted by Web Lock:

  • 34 - Bike
  • 74 - Car
  • 16 - Marine
  • 22 - Off-Highway
  • 51 - Truck

Examples of functions restricted by the Web Lock icon (on a Cummins ISX engine):

  • Cruise Control - Maximum Vehicle Speed
  • Idle Shutdown Time
  • Maximum Vehicle Speed
  • PTO Configuration
  • Vehicle Speed Source - Tire Size
  • Aftertreatment Maintenance
  • DEF Dosing System Purge Count Reset

For a complete list of items restricted by Web Lock (on a Cummins ISX engine) watch the video below.

3. TEXA is contacting our customers directly to sell software updates

TEXA's Master Distributor in North American is Cutting Edge Automotive Solutions. We only became aware that Cutting Edge was contacting our customers when we started receiving calls from our customers to see if they were being scammed or if it was legitimate.

So to answer the question, Yes - Cutting Edge is a legitimate TEXA support company.

Do we love that they've decided to implement new software update requirements and start calling our customers directly - NO

We hope if you're contacted by Cutting Edge you tell them you don't appreciate the new software update requirement and that you prefer to continue working with J-Ball Electronics for technical support.
